▸ Overview
Atsur builds infrastructure for documenting and verifying the provenance of African fine art. The platform is a registry and API built around CIDOC CRM — the international museum-sector standard for cultural heritage data — so records are interoperable with institutions worldwide rather than trapped in a proprietary schema. The system is multi-tenant: institutions get white-label digital archive sites on their own domains, backed by a shared registry core. The stack is Next.js and Payload CMS on AWS, with end-to-end and unit test suites guarding a codebase several teams depend on. I've been a full-stack developer on the platform since 2024, working across the registry, the tenant-facing archive sites, and the delivery pipeline. Because the work is under NDA, this case study stays at the architecture level — I'm happy to go deeper in a call, within what the NDA allows.

▸ Challenges
  • 01

Modeling art provenance to an international museum standard (CIDOC CRM) instead of a convenient in-house schema.

  • 02

Serving multiple institutions white-label archives — each on its own domain with its own branding — from one platform.

  • 03

Keeping production stable in a codebase that several workstreams touch, where regressions damage institutional trust.

▸ Solutions
  • A standards-compliant data model and API on Payload CMS, keeping records interoperable with the wider cultural-heritage ecosystem.

  • A multi-tenant architecture with per-institution theming and domains on AWS, configured at build time per tenant.

  • Established testing protocols and debugging workflows — Playwright end-to-end suites and unit tests wired into delivery.

▸ Results

+10% engagement from analytics-driven UX improvements and intelligent automation.

−20% production bugs after establishing testing protocols and debugging workflows.

Ongoing full-stack role since 2024.
